  3. Practice positive work habits
    1. Bring the required materials for class, on time.
    2. Be engaged at all times.
    3. Give your best effort.

Consequences:

1st offense: verbal warning

3rd offense: Detention, conference after class, and parent notification

4th offense: referral to the office

*Though I try to make each day a fresh start a student who frequently disrupts class might have accelerated consequences.

** Parental notification can be implemented at any time with regard to the severity of the offense.

POLICIES

  • Absent Work:If you are absent, you have one day to make up work for each day of absence.  It is your responsibility to pick up your make-up work. Your teacher is not responsible for tracking you down to give you your work.

  • Making Up Quizzes or Tests: Quizzes and tests must be made up either before school with Mr. Klooster, or after school using ZAP.  Do not ask to make up a quiz or test during class time.

  • Cell Phones and Other Devices: Strictly prohibited throughout the hour.  The same goes for Nooks. Zero exceptions.

  • Late Policy: Mr. Klooster’s late policy falls into two categories.

  1. Daily work: cannot be turned in late.  If absent from school, the student will be given a one day extension upon their return to school.

  2. Essays and projects: A student will receive a 10% reduction if turned in late within three days after the due date.  After three days the student will receive a 20% reduction.

  • Passes: You MUST sign out and TAKE THE PASS every time you leave the room, even if it is just for a drink.  The new pass sign out sheet also has a column for DESTINATION. Make sure that you only go to the place you requested.

Each person will ONLY be allowed to sign out ONCE PER WEEK at the most, but you’re not “guaranteed” to get the pass you ask for.  Passes will, as always, be based on need and on what’s going on in the classroom.

There will be NO passes during the first or last 10 minutes of class.  If you take a pass during those times, for any reason, it will be marked as a TARDY.  Be prepared for class with pencils, books, etc.

  • Tardies and Seating Chart: If you’re not in the seat to which you’ve been assigned, you will automatically receive a TARDY.  The assigned seats are ones you’ve chosen anyway, and it allows me to take quick and accurate attendance. 3 tardies = detention, 6th tardy = referral.

  • Warm Ups: Grab a warm up when you come in, but you’ll now have 8 minutes on Mondays and 4 minutes thereafter to complete the warm up. I will be giving credit/no credit for those who are prepared to provide answers.

  • Vocabulary Quizzes: Vocabulary quizzes will be timed.  From the time I finish reading the word bank, you will have 10 minutes to complete the quiz.  Any blanks will be marked incorrect at that point.

Quizzes will be 10 points, if you spell a word incorrectly or put it in the wrong blank, it’s simply incorrect and does not earn a point.

Everybody Does Everything: I will be calling students at random and walking around to make sure people are engaged.  To receive participation point credit, it is in your best interest to be engaged in the activities in class.
